Who we are

helpthe.dev is responsible for the personal data described here. For any question about it, or to use any of your rights, email hello@helpthe.dev.

What we collect

• When you join the waitlist: your email address.
• When you send feedback: your answer to “Would your team pay for this?”, what you do, what would make it an easy yes, and your email address if you choose to leave one.
• When you visit: your IP address and browser details. Your session records them so the forms work and so we can limit repeated submissions. We don’t use them to work out who you are.
• Through Google Ads: the pages you visit, your browser details, whether you came from one of our ads, and whether you joined the waitlist or sent feedback. Google never gets your email address or anything you write in the forms.

What we use it for

• Your waitlist email tells you when early access opens, plus the odd update about the launch. We rely on your consent, and you can ask to be removed at any time.
• Your feedback helps us decide what to build first. If you left an email, we may reply or tell you when early access opens. We rely on our legitimate interest in building something people want.
• Visit details keep the site working and protect the forms from spam and abuse. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
• Google Ads data tells us which ads bring people who join the waitlist or send feedback, so we stop paying for the ones that don’t. We rely on our legitimate interest in knowing which ads work. Google also uses it as its privacy policy describes, including to show ads.

Cookies

The site sets two cookies of its own. Both are strictly necessary:

• helpthedev-session keeps your visit together, for example to show you the result of a form.
• XSRF-TOKEN protects the forms from cross-site request forgery.

Both expire two hours after your last visit. Google Ads sets two more to measure our ads:

• _gcl_au links your visit to our ads.
• _gcl_aw is only set when you arrive from one of our ads, and remembers which one.

Both last 90 days. Google may also set cookies on its own domains. You can block them in your browser, or turn off personalised ads in My Ad Center.

Where it’s stored

Waitlist sign-ups, feedback and sessions are stored in a database run by Supabase in London. Our hosting provider handles visit details to serve the site. Only the helpthe.dev team can see what you send, and we don’t share it with anyone for marketing. Google handles Google Ads data and may process it outside the UK.

How long we keep it

• Waitlist emails: until you ask us to remove yours, or until we close the waitlist.
• Feedback: while helpthe.dev is being built, or until you ask us to delete it.
• Sessions: they expire two hours after your last visit and are then cleared out.
• Google Ads data: its cookies last 90 days. Google keeps what it collects as its privacy policy describes.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email hello@helpthe.dev and we’ll reply within a month.

If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

When the product launches, this policy will grow to cover the reports your team sends through the widget. If we change it, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
